Get Ready for Your Storage/Office Delivery

Preparing Your Storage Container Site

You need storage and you need it now and T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment understands that. To ensure your operations stay running efficiently, there’s a couple of things that need to be completed before T.P.’s delivery drivers can drop a storage unit or ground level office container. When preparing your site, the following are essential to having a smooth delivery.

  • Unobstructed, clear area to maneuver
  • Proper space to deliver/drop
  • Solid, level surface, not prone to mud

How to Load a Storage Container

While it may seem like an odd question, ‘doors to the cab’ or ‘doors to the rear’ saves you time on your delivery. In order to start moving, storing or operating upon delivery, T.P. Trailers & Truck Equipment wants to ensure that your purchase or rental is delivered exactly as you need it. What does ‘doors to the cab’ or ‘doors to the rear’ mean?

  • Doors to Cab
The container is placed on the trailer with the barn doors, or main point of entry, closest to the cab of the delivery truck. The doors would open towards the driver seat of the vehicle.
  • Doors to Rear
The container is placed on the trailer with the barn doors, or main point of entry, closest to the rear of the trailer. The doors would open towards the back of the vehicle.

For Office Containers, Guard Shacks, Garages or Breakrooms, you’ll also need to consider how you’d like to enter your new workspace. When confirming delivery, you’ll need to specify which direction the side access doors, i.e. the man door or roll door, will need to face: Driver’s Side or Passenger’s Side.

Need a Different Orientation?

If the conex container or office container isn’t oriented as you originally visualized once it has been delivered — that’s okay. As long as the unit is completely empty and/or disconnected to utilities, T.P.’s drivers can position it on-site for an additional fee.

Clear & Accessible Site

Look up at your job site or location — the delivery truck needs to be unobstructed by wires, overhangs, tree branches, septic tanks, telephone poles, etc. Please inform the sales representative of any obstructions that cannot be removed.

Is your site accessible by tractor-trailer? Below you’ll find the minimum running distance required for your new storage container, but the delivery truck also needs space to maneuver easily. The delivery truck will need a wide turning radius to turn into your property and maneuver into position.

Minimum Running Distance

Despite 10′ and 20′ containers being compact enough to fit expertly in a regular parking space, the delivery truck needs space to deliver your new storage unit! These units are delivered on a roll back style truck which means the container is loaded on a flat service that tips and rolls out from underneath the container to drop it in your precise location.

  • For a 10′ storage container, the delivery truck requires 60′ of straight space for unloading and 15′ of clearance.
  • For a 20′ storage container, the delivery truck requires 80′ of straight space for unloading and 15′ of clearance.

When purchasing or renting a 24′ or 40′ container, the tractor-trailer needs far more space to deliver your ground level container. The tractor-trailer is approximately 70′ long and requires a wide turning radius to enter your facility or location. Similar to the roll back, our tractor-trailer includes a Landoll trailer, which allows the delivery driver to tip the container into its precise location.

  • For a 24′ or 40′ container, the delivery truck requires 120′ of straight space for unloading and 15′ of clearance.

Solid & Level Surface

The ground, or surface type, is pertinent to the placement of your storage container and the delivery trucks’ accessibility. In addition to the container being hefty, the delivery truck is also quite heavy. To prevent damage to your location or jobsite, please confirm with your sales representative that the surface is firm and level. Your sales representative may also ask if your new container or rental office will be situated on gravel, soil, asphalt, rock or concrete.

T.P.’s certified drivers ultimately have the final say on the safety of the delivery and if they are able to access the site. Prior to your delivery, it is imperative that you discuss obstructions, access and placement with your sales representative to ensure a smooth delivery. At the end of the day, it is T.P.’s goal to ensure your operations continue without a hitch.

Water Prevention

Similar to the reasons above, your site needs to be in an area that is not prone to mud and/or sitting water in wet seasons and during or after a rainstorm. Additionally, if your conex box is situated on a surface prone to mud or sitting water, the floor will eventually fail and the integrity of your investment will falter. While T.P.’s delivery drivers will include blocks to lift the container from directly sitting on the ground, T.P. suggests you heavily consider your desired location, consider a back up location and discuss options with your sales representative. Safe operations are yours and T.P.’s top goals, so having a firm, level surface is a must to ensure the container sits safely for use.

If I could give tp trailer more than 5 stars I would. After years of having my truck serviced by a competitor, I decided it was time to switch after hearing from Lee the service manager, all the services they provide. From pricing, customer service to overall local small business feel I couldnt be happier. If your currently having your truck serviced or state/dot inspected by anyone other than TP Trailer I would highly recommend you switch today. Tp trailers will be Junk Elves commercial truck service center moving forward.
